In the last week and since last two months there has been quite a buzz on and about Porn Industry. Indian Government (Cyber Branch specially) has done a lot of research (hoping at least!) and must have implemented a lot of tricks and technologies to ban those 857 Porn Sites.  I simply don’t know which 857 sites are banned, but my little research on World’s one of the largest and most used search engines Google, helped me understand that the popular sex sites like 69.com. But what about sites like Brazzers and such (I am not going to list them here), which can still be browsed through?

Over the top, the worst part is these search engines will pull out endless number of sites that is not the part of Banned Porn Sites. While the nation took such a huge step, it should have also tried doing something for Search Engine restrictions (like we had in Europe “Privacy Case” and the “Child Sex” case). I know it is not just the matter of paperwork and it takes a lot of time and other formalities to do so.

However, the fact that today most of the Indians rely heavily on Google for fetching the likes of the individual. In such a scenario it is quite obvious that people will search for porn sites than just browse the specific known sites. And since some of our politicians and columnists think that India is Sex Obsessed, it is equally important to know that the World thinks alike.

I would like to quote what Shunali Shroff says in her article ‘India: From Nation of Sex Maniacs to Virgins’, posted on DailyO, BJP’s “Subramanian Swamy says, it was imposed to prevent Indians from becoming sex maniacs.”

Let think like the lamest man in India, when he searches for a porn video or story sites.
The person would likely visit the known list of sites like 69.com and all, but then the page will most likely display this message:
Error. Page cannot be displayed. Please contact your service provider for more details.

So, finally he will close and search the keyword in Google, Bing, Yahoo Search, etc. And to my surprise 40-60% of the top listed 10 sites will work. To try-and-test I searched for two most common searches “teen sex” and “maid sex”.

Here is the preview of my search on Teen Sex (see yourself):
Google Search for 'Teen Sex'

2 of 4 top recommended sites will gladly open their arms for Mr. Swamy’s Sex Maniacs.

The same story was in the case of Maid Sex (have a look).
Google Search for 'Maid Sex'

2 of 5 top recommended sites will again gladly open their arms for Mr. Swamy’s Sex Maniacs.

What is the solution? According to me, instead of banning these sites, we should focus more on awareness and education. A well read man or even an educated person will be afraid to bore more than two children (so Swamy sir’s our overpopulation problem is solved).

Don’t forget the ‘MangoPeople’. These people believe in expanding their family count so that they have more hands to earn the same hungry mouths. We should focus on their employment and right wage (note; still our noble school teachers are paid somewhere between 4-10 thousand per month, which is extremely low for healthy living, forget luxury.) than on simply banning a handful of sites (which absolutely makes no sense, not in terms of privacy and all, it simply has negligible impact).

On this Independence Day, I would like to awaken our Common Senses and the ability to Reason than to passively accepting the decisions and thoughts. Let’s fight but not with Bans and Nuclear and Satellites, but with common sense, knowledge, humanity, self-awareness and experience.

Happy Independence Day
